Every vehicle has a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to give you information and to be able to individually identify it. This blog will help you find your VIN on a Mercedes Vario.
VIN location 1
Step 1: Go to your driver side front wheel.
Step 2: Look at the horizontal (front to back of vehicle) chassis beam behind the wheel.
Step 3: You will find your VIN stamped into the chassis. It may be a little dirty and rusty but a quick wipe with a damp cloth should make it clear enough to read. Can't read it? Move onto the next location.
VIN location 2
Step 1: Open your driver side door.
Step 2: Look at the driver's seat box on the right hand side.
Step 3: You will find your VIN on a sticker on the side of the seat box.
What does your VIN tell you?
Digits 1, 2 & 3 of a VIN make up the 'World Manufacturer Identifier' and on a Mercedes Vario this will be 'WDB' with the 'W' standing for Germany.
4, 5 & 6 are the model, on a Vario either 667, 668 or 670.
7, 8 & 9 are the weight and length code.
Digit 10 is the drive indicator, on a Mercedes Vario '1' is left hand drive and '2' is right hand drive.
Digit 11 is the 'plant code', the factory where the vehicle was made.
Digits 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17 are the serial number for the vehicle.
And digit 18 is a check digit.
